A Neutral foot has the right amount of “roll” and is the most effective way to move and absorb shock comfortably. The foot touches the ground with the outside of the heel first and rolls evenly inward up to the ball of the foot. You tend to have neutral arches which offer the most effective support for your body mass. A Neutral shoe is the best choice for this pronation type as it will continue to support the natural roll of your foot as you run.

An Under-Pronated foot’s natural movement tends to be very rigid and lacks roll-in movement. The foot touches the ground with the outside of the heel and continues to roll outside to the ball of the foot. The way the heel hits the ground with no roll-in can cause stress to be transferred as far up as the hips and back. Under-pronators tend to have very high arches that do not support your body weight effectively. Choosing a Neutral shoe with added cushioning is the best option for you, as your foot will still be supported while allowing for a more natural, comfortable roll-in movement to occur.
