The New York Knickerbockers, more commonly known as the Knicks were established in 1946 and are one of the two NBA teams located in NYC. The team name comes from the 17th century when Dutch Settlers wore pants rolled up just below the knee called "Knickerbockers."Of his seventeen-year NBA career, Ewing spent most of this time playing for the New York Knicks, drafted as the overall number one pick in 1985 as their center.
A member of the original 1992 Olympic 'Dream Team' Ewing was also named one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History. In the 1991- 92 season, in the 1992 Eastern Conference semis against the Bulls, Ewing was unstoppable; Game 1 had him with 34 points, 16 rebounds and 6 blocks, leading the Knicks to beat Chicago 94-89. It was Game 6 where the Knicks, facing elimination, Ewing had one of the greatest games of his career. Trailing 3-2 in the series, and sporting a bad ankle, Ewing helped the Knicks by scoring 27 points and ultimately winning the game 100-86. Unfortunately, the Knicks were ousted in Game 7 110-81.
