Overview

The original Hornets were established in 1988 but relocated to New Orleans at the end of the 2001-02 season and became the New Orleans Hornets. In 2004, the Charlotte Bobcats were born as the NBA’s new expansion team. In 2013, the New Orleans Hornets announced a rebrand as the Pelicans and returned the Hornets name to Charlotte. The Bobcats renamed as the Hornets in the 2014-15 season.
